Beatrice Hyde - Playright
Beatrice Hyde is the playwright of EMMELINE, her debut play that was produced by Theatre Lab Company for the first time at The Cockpit theatre in November 2021. She is currently doing an MA in Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She first conceived of the concept for EMMELINE during her BA in Drama and Theatre at the University of Kent, and further developed this during her year abroad at the University of California, Berkeley where she received personal tutorials from Rockefeller Playwriting Award winner Philip Kan Gotanda. During her MA in Acting at East 15, she sought further mentorship from Writers’ Guid Award winner Ed Harris. Throughout this process, she was also working in close consultation with Helen Pankhurst, Emmeline Pankhurst’s great-granddaughter, on historic accuracy for the play. This year, Beatrice also wrote, produced and acted in a short film exploring domestic violence, ARMOUR.

Her training includes a degree in English and American Literature (Aristotle University, Greece), 3-year Classical Acting (Drama School, National Theatre of Northern Greece – Distinction), London Theatre Conservatory, École Philippe Gaulier and workshops with masters of theatre including Simon McBurney, Augusto Boal, Ozzie Rogriguez, Tage Larsen, Rufus Norris.
Velenzia Spearpoint - Producer
Velenzia is TLC’s newly recruited producer for EMMELINE. She will be responsible for the financial and project management, working closely with the director throughout the whole of the funding period. Velenzia has over 10 years experience on the London fringe theatre scene. As of April 2018 she became Artistic Director at the Bread & Roses Theatre & in January 2019 she co-founded the Chapel Playhouse. She is also co-founder of female led theatre company Get Over It Productions and has been working as the Producer and Programmer for Clapham Fringe Festival since 2016. At Clapham Fringe Festival she manages on average 27 different companies/productions and 50 performances over a 3 week period.

MARTINA REYNOLDS is a company director and producer of TLC. Sevi Filippidou - Director's PA
In Emmeline, Sevi is the director’s PA and an ensemble actor. She joined Theatre Lab Company in 2018, trained within the Company, and participated in productions ever since on and back stage. Sevi, as a passionate female activist, is thrilled about EMMELINE who brings to life the British Suffrage, particularly in an era like this. She a multilingual actor living in London. She trained at the École du Théâtre du Pommier (option comédiens) in Switzerland. She also holds a PhD from the Unine.

Phoebe Stapleton - Movement Director
Phoebe Stapleton is collaborating with TLC for the first time on this project as the movement director. She led movement workshops with the actors during the auditions and will be coming to work with the actors in rehearsals alongside her training on the MA Movement Directing at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She previously gained a BA Hons in Contemporary Theatre at East 15 Acting School. Phoebe’s experience of movement stems from a background as an actor and dancer specialising in physical theatre. Phoebe believes that movement is everything, and the joy of movement should be accessible to all. She is fascinated by an actor’s inner rhythm that only they possess and to find out what moves them. Phoebe believes in empowering the actor to embody movement that feels truthful, authentic and reflects their identity. Maira Vazeou - Set Designer
Maira has already begun developing ideas for a visually striking set that will bring the world of the Suffragettes to life on stage. She has worked with TLC on many past projects and developed a real understanding of TLC’s aesthetic style. Maira trained at the Central School Of Speech and Drama. She has designed numerous productions in UK and abroad from large scale open-air amphitheatres to smaller studio spaces (Salvadores Dei – Odeon of Herodes Atticus; I’m A Minger – Belgrade Theatre; Macbeth – National Theatre of Northern Greece; Dance With The Devil – Lilian Baylis Studio Sadlers Wells). For the film industry she has worked on various art departments in Pinewood and Shepperton studios.

Brett Kasza - Light Designer
Brett was born in Guelph, Canada and graduated from Rose Bruford College with a BA in Lighting Design previously graduating with honours in Technical Production for Theatre and Live events from Sheridan College in Oakville, Canada. Brett’s goal in theatre and the arts is to work with others who want to challenge normal conventions. Whether this is through the people, and stories told on stage or in production meetings, he wants to ensure that every voice is heard to create the best art possible. Having worked and studied in multiple countries, Brett’s Lighting Design continues to evolve to be ever more creative and inspiring.
Tamara Amalie Andersen - Costume Designer
Tamara will be creating the historic aesthetic of the Suffragette movement with a new collection of period costumes. She will be working with an assistant to create her new designs by making alterations to existing costumes in TLC’s wardrobe, as well as sourcing new materials. Tamara has BA Fashion Design degree from Kingston University. She is currently working as a Costume Maker for Walt Disney at Marvel Studios for their next film. She is also a freelance Atelier Seamstress and Stylist at Burberry. She has also worked for the costume department at Arts Ed drama school.

Annabelle Brown - Composer
Annabelle will be creating an original score for EMMELINE, which will be a key component in drawing the audience into the passion and determination behind the Suffragette struggle. She will work closely with the director, attending rehearsals to compose music that will enhance the dramatic impact of each scene/ physical sequence. She trained at the Victorian College of the Arts (BMus Perf.) in Melbourne, and at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts (PG Dip., Acting). Most recently Annabelle composed, sound designed and edited audio productions of Peter Pan (starring Kenneth Branagh and Olivia Coleman) and Hamlet (starring Lawrence Ubong-Williams). She has been composer and music director for numerous theatre productions, including The Canterbury Tales (UK tour), Robin Hood, A Study in Scarlet (Southwark Playhouse), and Salome (European tour)

Isabel Sanchez trained at Azusa Pacific University (California) where she received a BFA in Acting for the Stage and Screen with specific . She is currently studying on the MFA Acting course at the University of East London. Rachel Verhoef is an artist, writer and actor who was trained in Theatre Arts and Communication at Carroll University. She is currently studying to get her MFA in Acting at University of East London. THEATRE: The Maids (UEL 2022), Midsummer’s Nights Dream (UEL 2022), Three Sisters: a comedy (UEL 2022), Chapter Two ( Inspiration Studios 2021).
